I got so fed up of waiting for a reply that I bought an old deck, which came with a protractor - I am now selling a new style GL75 protractor on eBay which can be used without removing the corkscrew. It is difficult to post an image which will print properly - too much variation between software packages and file formats.

You are not the first person to suggest that sort of thing. Nice, if you have Photoshop, and a few hours to spend in innocent amusement. I did post an image at http://www.freewebs.com/dotfret/lenco.htm which does not cause much trouble with printing. There are problems associated with using the Lenco protractor as it stands, because it is intended for use during the deck set-up - you have to remove the anti-skate and the armlift assemblies before it can be used properly. If a lighter card is used, a protractor can be made which can be fitted in place around these parts. The real difficulties in making your own protractor stem from punching a nice neat 7.2mm (9/16") hole so it can be used properly. You can drill a guide hole through a piece of wood, then trap the image between this and another piece of wood, and drill again. This works, if you are careful. I prefer to punch an oversize hole and use another piece of card to fix the protractor alignment, using a deck which has its alignment confirmed using a two point protractor in addition to an original Lenco Lenco protractor. If you know a good way of making reliable holes, tell the world here, please.
